It's-Not-Just Business Monthly Bookclub
(every 2nd Tuesday of the month!)

  • Do you love to learn?
  • Do you have a stack of books you’ve “been meaning to get to”?
  • Are you interested in learning in a community of others just like yourself?
  • Once you get through a book are you able to apply what you learn and take action?

If you answered ‘Yes!’ to the first three and ‘Aw, you caught me!’ on the last one, this might be the group you’re looking for…

Join us Tuesday, March 9th!

The intention is to provide a time every month where we read books that get us thinking.

Thinking about the work we do, how we can do it with more purpose and then apply what we learn in our business or in our work and share it with a community of others.

It’s about building sustainable learning.

Learning from others… and making time to work through great books!

The Books

Below are the books we’ll start out with. I’ve left a couple of blank months at the end so you can suggest a book you want support on working through. The list of books below isn’t full of the newest reads. You should be able to find used copies or go to the library to check out the book. That’s intentional to keep things as affordable as possible.

Feb 9 ->  Who Moved My Cheese:

 Description from Amazon.com: Who Moved My Cheese? is an amusing and enlightening story of four characters who live in a maze and look for cheese to nourish them and make them happy. Cheese is a metaphor for what you want to have in life - whether it is a good job, a loving relationship, money or a possession, health or spirital peace of mind. And the maze is where you look for what you want - the organisation you work in, or the family or community you live in. This profound book from bestselling author, Spencer Johnson, will show you how to anticipate change, adapt to change quickly, enjoy change and be ready to change quickly again and again. Discover the secret for yourself and learn how to deal with change, so that you suffer from less stress and enjoy more success in your work and in life. Written for all ages, this story takes less than an hour to read, but its unique insights can last for a lifetime.

March 9 ->  Fierce Conversations

From the Fierce website: A Fierce Conversation is one in which we come out from behind
ourselves, into the conversation, and make it real.

Success increasingly hinges on engaging colleagues, customers, friends, and family in conversations that interrogate reality, provoke learning, tackle tough challenges, tap our deepest aspirations, and enrich relationships. Fierce Conversations shows you how with principles, examples, tools, stories, and exercises to take you step-by-step through your first fierce conversation-with yourself-on to the most challenging and important conversations facing you.
